Austin and I met in college at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin during both of our first semesters. We were in the same dorm building and had a mutual friend introduce us. Almost 11 months after meeting and dating, he decided to join the Air Force. Once he was done with boot camp, we were both ready to get married. Knowing he had to get my parents permission (and being in Texas not able to come home to ask them in person) he Face-Timed them. He proposed to me that day. In order for me to move to his first duty station (Italy), we would have to get married quick. We had only 3 short months to plan our dream wedding.
Norman’s was where I had gotten all of my prom dresses over the years so that’s the first place I went. And I’m so glad I did. I had always thought I knew exactly what I wanted until the time came. I was willing to try on almost anything. With the wedding being less than 3 months away, it had to fit me almost perfectly. My dress was the second one I tried on. I was convinced it fit me too perfectly to not be made for me. I honestly think the girl helping me was just as excited as the rest of my family was. She almost had tears in her eyes when we went and showed everyone. She said to me “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone look so perfect in this dress. This has to be the one.” And I walked out of the store with it that day. A girl I’d never met before had such good intentions on helping the picture in my head come true. Everyone at Normans was so beyond helpful in making my Wedding dress dreams come true.
I also got all 7 bridesmaids dresses and my flower girls dress from Norman’s.
I don’t know how I would have had the wedding of my dreams without my moms help and planning. Getting a photographer, decorations, and invitations were hard at such short notice. Luckily one of our sweet family friends agreed to fit us in her schedule and take our pictures. Our wedding day was the best day of both of our lives. Everyone who loves and cares about us were there to make our day unforgettable. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I’m so thankful God let our paths cross. That perfect day was only the beginning of lives. I never thought I could love him more than I did that perfect day but here I am 38 days later and loving him more each day.
