How and or where did you meet?
We met at a Worship & Creative Arts camp in high school. I very obviously liked him immediately — and he was the best singer there! We were best friends throughout the next few years of high school, which is the best thing we could have done for our relationship. We eventually actually started dating towards the end of senior year.
How did you get proposed to?
I had planned a New Year’s Eve party for our two families together. He took me to dinner at Red Onion Café in Joplin before our party started, which was sweet because that’s where we had our first date in high school. Afterward, we went back to his house, where he had lights and a little scene set up in the backyard. There, he proposed! And when we went inside, all of our families and friends were there. He had used my NYE party as the cover-up for getting everyone together without me realizing. I was totally caught off-guard! And we celebrated until the new year came at midnight!
Where did you get married?
The I Do Wedding & Event Center in Joplin. They have two large event rooms to choose from, so we had the ceremony in one and put the dance floor in the other.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
We did our first look in private, even without the photographer. We read our personal vows there, totally alone, and were able to talk about nerves, our families, and so on. This was one of the sweetest parts of the day for us. It also reminded me that the wedding is not a photo shoot; it is far more important than just a photo shoot!

Describe your dress!
My dress was a sort of satin, pure white, with no lace or detailing. It had amazing side cutouts and was so flattering. I loved the way it fit me, and it was so easy to move in!
What was your experience like at Normans Bridal?
Normans Bridal is the best! I bought my prom dress here as a teenager, and then came back a few years later for a wedding gown. All of the attendants were so kind and helpful. They knew my preferences and were ready to find whatever I described!
