Joe and I were set up on a blind date during the summer of 2014 by a friend. Though we fell in love through our mutual affection for the great outdoors, good coffee, and shoes, what has made our relationship invaluable is our shared love for Christ.
After dating for 3 years, Joe proposed during May 2017 at Capen park in Columbia, Missouri. Before he proposed, we read a chapter out of the Bible and he gave me a letter that recapped our love story. At the end of the letter, he got down on one knee and said, "You already have my heart, will you take my last name?"
6 and a half months later, on December 16th, we got married at the church I grew up in. During our wedding ceremony, Joe surprised me by singing a combination of two of my favorite songs while playing his guitar ("Falling" by Oh Gravity and "Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley). I needed a towel to dry the river of tears flooding down my face. It was the perfect day, but things have gotten even better since then (Who knew that was possible?). What a blessing it is to marry your best friend.
