How and or where did you meet?
Trent and I met at our church, North Point, in Springfield, MO. We've served at our young adult's ministry, The Point, for nearly two years together, though we never really talked or interacted much, despite serving in the same "zone". I was out for a few weeks taking real estate classes, and while I was out, the young adults director at The Point, Jon Martz (who is also the pastor who is marrying us), text me and asked if I wanted to play a game on stage when I came back on October 22nd. With literally no context, I agreed. I got out of class early one week and stopped by The Point. So many people came up to me that night, telling me how excited they were for the game next week. Like, enough people that I knew I had signed up for more than I realized. Turns out I had agreed to a dating game. Like the dating game that used to be on tv—where there are three contestants behind a wall with voice modifiers. After a series of questions, I would pick a contestant. Our prize? A $50 gift card to Chilis. Ultimately, I chose contestant number three. To my surprise it was Trent. I knew little about him, other than the fact that he was younger than I was. After being coerced by one of our mutual friends, he asked me to go to Chilis with him that Friday. With little expectation (from either of us), he picked me up and drove us to Chilis, where we sat for six hours, until we were kicked out by the staff who we kept past closing. A few days later, we stayed awake all night talking in my car outside of his apartment. The week after that, I knew I was going to marry him.
How did you get proposed to?
He proposed the day after my birthday, on September 20th, 2020, at my birthday dinner with my whole family present. The one thing I had told him is that I would love for my family to be there. Apparently, I had also told him that I would never want to be proposed to on my birthday. So, he opted for the day after. It was perfect.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
There are so many to choose from, but ultimately, it would have to be the amount of love that was there that day. To have all of our friends and family from all different seasons of our life in one place, celebrating the love Trent and I share, is something so special that will likely never be replicated again.
If I had to pick one moment in particular, though, it would be when the chapel doors opened and I saw Trent. Walking with my dad, who is the best man I have ever known, to the man of my dreams (who is the other best man I have ever known) was such a surreal moment.
